Android 2.2 Officially Arrives for Nexus One
While Android 2.2 was available for the Nexus One through unofficial channels for quite sometime now, there is always this thing about official announcements.
Google has finally, officially announced the arrival of Android 2.2 on the Google Nexus One. In a blog post announcing the update Google said that soon, Nexus One users will begin to receive the Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) over-the-air software update on their phones. The blog post adds some of the new features available with the Froyo - mainly the support for Adobe Flash within the browser and the fact that the phone can now be used as a wireless hotspot.
Nexus One users would ideally receive a notification to which they have to respond to be able to update. These notifications should start appearing in about a week's time on phones across the globe. The Nexus One, being Google's own handset, seems to be getting the priority treatment here since many other phones are yet to receive the Froyo update.
