Box office - ‘Raajneeti’ a blockbuster, ‘Raavan’ flops

Box office - ‘Raajneeti’ a blockbuster, ‘Raavan’ flops
Finally Raavan has been declared a ‘Flop’. Judging from its poor first-week collection, it wasn’t that hard to determine its destiny. The much hyped Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai film after Guru just managed to do Rs 24 crore business in its first week, and, as per reports, it may fall short of Rs 30 crore for its lifetime business.

Coming to Raajneeti, it’s a blockbuster. The news of it becoming such a huge hit has given the industry a boost. According to reports, the film is the biggest hit of the first half releases of 2010 with a likely Rs 47-48 crore lifetime share. The Prakash Jha-directed film gave a huge lift to the industry after the unexpected failure of Kites, which is one of the biggest flops of 2010.

Last Friday’s release Krantiveer 2opened to a not-so-good response of meager 10-15%. The lack of publicity and unknown faces instead of popular stars has affected its collection at box office.

The upcoming rom-com I Hate Luv Storys is expected to set the cash registers ringing again.
