Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon 2010 – Seattle will be hosting the 2010 Rock and Roll Marathon. This is a great time for runners to get together. It is estimated that nearly 30,000 people will be taking part in the marathon that will feature both runners and walkers. The marathon has shut down several large streets in the city and will likely cause a great deal of traffic buildup throughout the day, as Seattle is a region that is known for having issues with traffic already. The race will end at Qwest Field in downtown, and start in Tukwila at the Gateway Corporate Center.
The route will take runners 26.2 miles from the outskirts of the city, right into down town. 45 percent of the people who will be taking part in the race will be running in their very first marathon. This is a high amount of first timers compared to most marathons, but the reasoning behind the marathon could have a lot to do with that.
The youngest you can be to enter the marathon is 12, while the oldest that you can be is 80. The race will be led by athletes from all over the world, and likely some of the best runners in the world will use the nice, bright, sunny Seattle day to sharpen their running ability. A local renowned runner, Drew Polley, will be taking part in the marathon as well as US Olympian Brian Sell.
Throughout the race there will be free music, and post-race there will be music for all of the runners to enjoy. The Rock and Roll Seattle Marathon effectively combines a love for health and music into a good time.
