Sri Ram Navami 2011:
Sri Ram Navami is celebrated on April 12 2011 (Tuesday). Sri Rama Navami, comes on the 'Shukla paksha' Navami, (ninth day from no moon day) in the Chaitra month of Hindu traditional calendar. Sri Rama Navami marks the end of nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations.
Live Telecast & Webcast:
TTD SVBC had live telecast the special Abisheka to Lord Ram in the morning (around 9 - 10 am), Sahasra Deepalankara Seva around 5.20 pm and procession of Lord Ram with special Alankara in the mada veethis of Temple around 7pm. This year too they are expected to do so.

Sri Ram Navami Celebration:
Sri Rama Navami is marked by Pravachanam, continuous recitals, Akhand Paath, mostly of the Ramayana, Ramacharitamanas. The Ramayana recital is organized several days in advance to culminate on Sri Rama Navami. There will be bhajan and kirtan singing on all the places.
Sri Ram Navami Importance
Sri Ram Navami is the birthday of Lord Rama and is also the day when Sri Ram married Sita. 'Sree Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsav' is held in many places to mark this occasion. Lord Vishnu took avatar as Lord Ram to slay the demon Ravan and uphold Dharma in this universe.
Sri Ram Navami in Temples
Also, at temples special homams, abhishekam are done with chanting of Vedic mantras. Special flowers and fruits are offered to Lord Ram. Lakhs of devotees will throng the temple to have the darshan of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Prasad will be distributed after the abhishekam, puja and aarti. Lord Rama will come in procession in the mada veethis of Temple.
Images of baby Ram are placed on cradles and rocked by devotees. Since Lord Rama is born at noon, temples and family shrines are elaborately decorated and traditional prayers are chanted together by the family in the morning. Many Hindus mark this day by Vrata (fasting) through the day followed by feasting in the evening, or at the culmination of celebrations.
