Wondering whether you will leave your real-lifefriends behind by using Facebook? Well, it's not true.

A new study has said that Facebook users have more close ties with their offline friends than those who don't use the social networking site, reportsNew Scientist .

The researchers at the Pew Research Center in Washington DC, who surveyed 2,255 Americans, found that the average Facebook user has 229 friends on Facebook , which turns out to be 48 per cent of their total offline social network.
According to researchers, people who are making online connections could also be improving their offline lives. While the average American has just over two close relationships, regular Facebook users had an average of 9 per cent more close ties.
