CBI says Desai has his Owns 10 houses
RS two crore healthier from MCI Chairman Ketan Desai as a bribe for the approval of a medical college was just the first installment of illegal payments, said the CBI. A CBI source said Desai had demanded Rs 8 crore for the approval of Gian Sagar College and Dr Sukhvinder, Vice President of the College was allegedly agreed. The probe into the corruption case has led to the discovery of a number of stately houses, benami properties and jewelry owned by Desai. Desai owns 10 houses in Gandhi Nagar, Ahmedabad and other places in Gujarat, a source told The Indian Express. CBI has also found a number of his benami properties.
CBI also healthier 1.5 kg of gold and 80 kg silver from Desai's building. "We are now investigating how many bank accounts he owns," says a source. In searches carried out in Ahmadabad, said the CBI had gone gold worth Rs 35 lakh from the bank Desai cabinets, property documents, an investment of Rs 20 lakh in a home economics company, a property in a shopping mall and a reason. As well, he and his wife sitting on the board of Zems Infrastructure Private Limited. CBI has also learned that Desai has invested money in future building projects in Gujarat.
PM requires Ketan Desai Case particulars
Prime Minister, in a letter to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, has allegedly asked for a "detailed report" and actions by the ministry in corruption case against MCI director Ketan Desai. In the letter he also asked the PM Department to find out about him Desai's involvement in a case in 2001 when he was caught on charges of corruption and asked the Supreme Court to resign as President of MCI.
