Cut motion: PM, Sonia confident
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has articulated confidence that his government will overcome the cut motions on Finance Bill in assembly.
Asked how convinced the government was in a possible cut motion against the requirements for grants and changes in the investment Bill, "said Dr. Singh: We are as safe as possible. Asked the same question a little later at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mrs. Gandhi also said, of course we (trust).
Asked whether the administration will be to talk to resistance leaders such as Samajwadi chief, Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav in the case, "said Dr. Singh:" We seek the support of all right-minded people. “
The BJP-led NDA and a 13-party federation brought together by the Left parties have unconnectedly announced plans to bring the cut motions on demands for grants and changes in the budget proposal to force the government to roll back hike in prices of petroleum products and fertilizer.
But it seems to be a split in opposition ranks with the SP; RJD and Left parties hinted they might not support a split of votes on the future cut to be moved by the BJP in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
BSP, in the interim, but keeping his cards close to chest, suggested that it would prefer to abstain if there were a vote. "We have not decided which way we should go in any poll. A conclusion will be taken Tuesday morning in our parliamentary party meeting."
