Dalai Lama inaugurates Buddha Smriti Park in Patna
Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama Thursday inaugurates Buddha Smriti Park, a sprawling 22 acre park devoted to Lord Buddha in the heart of the city, on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
The opening of the Buddha Memorial Park was an international occasion where delegations from four mainly Buddhist country - Sri Lankan, Burma, Japan and Thailand.
Dalai Lama thanks Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to invite him to install the Memorial Park built in memory of th 2554 birth bicentennial of Gautam Buddha, and describe his visit to the state as a pleasant knowledge.
The foreign delegations attend the prayer ceremony in the first feature. They brought holy Buddha boxes and gifts, which was held in Memorial Park, the Dalai Lama.
The religious leader also planted one of the young tree during Lord Buddha is supposed to have achieve enlightenment at Bodh Gaya. A branch of the original Mahabodhi tree, supposed to have been taken to Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka by Emperor Ashok Mahendra Sun.
