Nepal head Madan Tamang, leader of the Bharatiya Nepal hey dude League (ABGL), was Friday stab to death allegedly by Nepal Janamukti Mørch (GJM) faction in West Bengal town, police said. The news of his death led to a impulsive closure of the area.


Tamang, who led the anti-GJM front in the Darjeeling hills, was hit with a kukri around 9:30, "said one bureaucrat.

"He was seriously injured in the attack and died in Darjeeling District Hospital," Darjeeling police station inspector-in-charge Indrajit Thapa told IANS.

Official Municipal Minister Ashok Bhattacharya said in Kolkata that the GJM group had carried out the assault on the Tamang.

"The GJM's thugs have dedicated murder. GJM is a fascist party that will not have any confrontation in the hills. They are opposite by a self-governing ambiance prevailing in the hills," he said.

"We are deeply worried. The mountain are very excited," said Bhattacharya, pending from Siliguri in Darjeeling region.

As news of Tamang killing increase, a impulsive shutdown began in the three Darjeeling hill subdivision of Darjeeling, Kalim pong and Kurseong.

Vehicles in Darjeeling went off the road, while shops and market were stopped up.
