Police fire rubber bullets to disperse anti-Posco agitators

Police on Saturday were killed in the anti-POSCO agitator, mostly women and children in Balitutha to the door of the planned construction site, firing tear gas bullets and rubber bullets spread them and injuring at least 20 populace.

Security personnel on assignment around 1000 agitators of the CPI-backed POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), on dharna since 26 January to spread immediately from the area where the prohibition orders were attached, said police.

The security human resources took action when activists of the PPSS threw crude bullets at them, they said.

At least 20 agitator were injured when police fired rubber bullets and tear gas grenades, they added.

Prohibition orders were fastened around Balitutha and around 1,500 police officers deploy as part of the Orissa government efforts to begin the forest survey and acquire of land on the plant site.

"No one shall come into force," Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told journalists in Bhubaneswar.

If the government believed in the peaceful industrialization, Patnaik said the district administration of Jagatsinghpur negotiating with agitators to clear the road, which had been captured by them since January 26.Meanwhile, CPI MP from Jagatsinghpur Bibhu Prasad Tarai, the Congress leader Umesh Swain and Jayant Biswal was arrested on the way to the protest site.

Tarai justify the arrest, "said Agriculture and Damodar Rout no prevention officers in carrying out their duties should be restricted.

"If there is an MP, MLA or priest should all obey the law," Rout said.

Top leaders including PPSS Abhay sahu and Sisir Mohapatra, the local Sarpanch, who had reach the dharna site, appeared to have gone underground to avoid capture.
