Akshardham attack case: HC upholds death for 3
Gujarat High Court has upheld the death sentence on three men found guilty in terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple in 2002. Thirty-two people died when militants stormed into the temple in Gandhi Nagar.
The special POTA court had given the death penalty against the accused.
The POTA court had sentenced six persons to provide logistical support to the two terrorists - Murtuza Hafiz Yasin and Ashraf Ali Mohammed Farooq - who stormed into the temple premises 25 September 2002 and shot 33 people.
Both attackers - supposed members of Lashkar-e-Toiba - were killed in the following operation of the security armed forces.
Three of the six detainees - Shan Miya alias Chand Khan from Bareilly, Adam Ajmeri and Mufti Abdul Qayyum Mansuri from Ahmedabad - were awarded the death verdict.
Another captive, Mohammed Salim Shaikh, was awarded life custody. Abdul Miyan Qadri and Altaf Hussain got 10 years and five years in prison every.
