Rafiq Ahmad Bangroo, 25, who was beaten up by CRPF men outside his home, died on a hospital bed while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was enjoying the weekend with his family at Gulmarg.
On Sunday morning, mourners returning from Bangroo’s burial pelted stones at a CRPF mobile bunker. CRPF men opened fire and killed Bangroo’s neighbour Javaid Ahmad Malla, 20. Police imposed curfew in downtown Srinagar and Omar had to rush back to hold meetings with senior civil and police officials. However, by 5.40 pm, he had flown back to Gulmarg.
