Uruguay Seem Destined For The Last Eight

With the group stages finished, every match in the World Cup becomes sudden death. Uruguay against South Korea and the United States against Ghana are the first gladiators to enter the arena.

Coach Tabarez of Uruguay has constructed a very solid, attack-minded Uruguay that won its group without ever having to show its true capability.

Diego Forlan, flanked by Suarez and young Edinson Cavani of Palermo, have looked as good as any attack in the tournament. In midfield he has marathon runners in Pereira, Perez and Arevalo with a solid back line led by experienced captain Lugano with goalkeeper Muslera of Lazio yet to concede a goal. It's a well balanced team that, as it showed against Mexico and South Africa, can strike at any time.
