Perhaps it's A.J. Burnett who should be skipped in the rotation instead of Phil Hughes.

Hours after Joe Girardi revealed his plan to skip Hughes' next start to keep the youngster's innings total down, Burnett went out and delivered one of his worst performances of the season.

The Diamondbacks hammered Burnett for seven runs over four innings, handing the Yankees a 10-4 loss to kick off their six-game road trip that includes a visit to Joe Torre in Los Angeles.
