Coast Guard Rescues Man Overboard From Skimmer

New Orleans, - The Coast Guard says it rescued a crewman who fell overboard from a oil spill skimmer vessel.

The vessel Philip Allen McCall sent a radio call for help around 3 a.m. Monday that 49-year-old Ricky Johnson was missing in the Gulf of Mexico about 50 miles off Venice.
A Coast Guard helicopter from New Orleans and an aircraft from Mobile, Ala., joined the search.
The vessel C-Escort spotted Johnson about 9 a.m. The Coast Guard said a swimmer was dropped from a Dolphin helicopter and helped Johnson into a basket. He was then airlifted to West Jefferson Medical Center in undetermined condition.
