Nadia death case: Former Goa minister Pacheco surrenders

PANAJI: Former Goa tourism minister Francisco “Mickky” Pacheco on Saturday surrendered to a court here in connection with the death of his alleged lover, 28-year-old Nadia Torrado.

Pacheco, charged with culpable homicide following the death of Nadia in Chennai, was underground four weeks after being summoned by the crime branch for questioning in the case.

Pacheco’s former officer on special duty Lyndon Monteiro has also been ask to appear before the crime branch on Saturday. Monteiro has been accused of destroying evidence in Nadia’s death case.

Police claim that a post-mortem conducted in Chennai soon after her death had found 14 bruise marks on her body. Nadia died on May 29 at Chennai’s Apollo Hospitals following a liver transplant. Her family claims she had “mistakenly” consumed rodent poison on May 15. Doctors said she had taken anti-depressant tablets too.
