Spyker makes final payment for Saab

Spyker
You may remember back at the start of the year we reported on a planned buy out of Saab by the Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker. Well with the deal done and the total split over two installments, Spyker decided to settle up in full, paying General Motors $24 million before the final payment due date of July 15.

Spyker says in its press release that: “The early payment of the second and last installment underlines our desire to finalize the transaction with GM as soon as it was possible, enabling management to fully focus on the future of the group and the realization of Saab’s business plan”.

Having now secured their purchase, Spyker can move on with its idea’s to resurrect Saab, which up until now seem to have been far from the spotlight. With the plan to build up Saab’s dealer network over in the US, the chances are that Spyker’s C8 Aileron will sell out of the same outlets as Saab’s models.

Do you think this will see an increase in new more exciting models from Saab ? Give us your opinion and check out the link for Spyker’s full press release.
