Sushmita says Jhansi biopic will get made

The actor insists that she hasn’t given up the dream of producing her ambitious project Jhansi Ki Rani

Last heard Sushmita Sen’s big budget biopic, Jhansi ki Rani was shelved forever, due to lack of financiers. But the actor has rubbished all such rumours in an interview to a morning newspaper. “The script is locked and it’s an asset. If it hasn’t taken off till date, it doesn’t mean we aren’t going to make it,” clarified the beauty queen. She further revealed that she does not want to compromise on the budget for this epic drama, thus waiting for the right producers to come on board. Unlike in Hollywood, period films take a long while to happen in Bollywood for several reasons: huge production costs and a well-researched script— both difficult to get if you don’t have a superstar on board. Meanwhile, the leggy actor says she has taken a break from acting in films as she hasn’t found anything inspiring enough for her to face the camera again. This reminds us of statements made Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji in the recent past? Isn’t this a trite answer, given by actors when film offers aren’t coming their way? It’s anybody’s guess!
