Ishant picks up freak injury during fun football
Roseau (Dominica), July 5 (PTI) Indian pace spearhead Ishant Sharma suffered a freak injury during a practice session, but the team management said it was not serious and he was part of the side for the third and final Test against the West Indies starting here tomorrow.
Ishant injured during a football match, where Team India played at Windsor Park last night.
The visitors - who apart from bowling, batting and fielding sessions - have come to your place in the third and final test rather late and limited to a collection of funny football between them.
But it surprised everyone when Praveen Kumar jumped into the air and accidentally head-butted the left cheekbone by Ishant.
The impact was so hard that Ishant was flat on his back for a good two minutes, causing a panic in the Indian ranks. The physio and masseur for the team crashed out of the locker room and lifted Ishant, accompanied him from the ground.
Ishant looked like a deep blood clot in his left cheekbone, a little cutting as well, but team sources later removed the fear that the damage could cost him the final test. "It's a little bruise, a small incision under the eye. But I've been told that it was not serious," Rahul Dravid was to say later.
Ishant has 16 wickets so far in the series, including a 10-wicket pull the Barbados Test, with an average of 13.62.
