McDonald's defends advertising to children


McDonald's Corp. CEO Jim Skinner on Thursday defended the company's right to advertise to children, saying "this is about choice" and that parents are responsible for deciding what to feed their kids.

At its annual shareholders meeting in Oak Brook, Skinner said that while shareholders have the right to express concerns, McDonald's should also have the right to advertise its menu offerings.

Lawrence E. Rubin, known for his active role in the design and building of the Mackinac Bridge, is dead. He was 97th.

We took a few notes a day on the trip home from the Sault Ste Marie to pull off throughway 75 just north of the Mackinac Bridge to see first hand the manufacturing Wonder. I think I've gone over the bridge fifteen times in my life, but I never stopped to study the longest postponement bridge between anchorages in the Western Hemisphere. This bridge, over four million vehicles a year on travel between Michigan's higher and lower peninsula.
