Indian-origin Kamla becomes first woman PM in Trinidad and Tobago
Indian origin Kamla Persad-Bissessar was elected Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. She is the first woman PM, which had a wonderful victory and beat the 43 years ruling government.

Leading political coalition People's Partnership, was Kamla Persad most winning 29 out of 41 seats in parliament in elections on Monday.

The 58-year-old Hindu woman who is a grandmother of two, is grateful for the women tremendous support across the country to choose her as PM.

With an excellent education and professional background in the Caribbean, was Ms. Persad-Bissessar the first woman prosecutor. She had also been the Minister of Justice, Minister for Education earlier.

An Indian-origin PM comes from the 1, 48,000 Indian workers who had moved there to work on sugar and cocoa plantations in 1845-1917.
