Marathi Maharashtra Gadchiroli Police

Gadchiroli Police

The cleverness Bureau warned Sunday that the Naxals are preparation a major offensive in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, just a day after insurgents killed eight Central Reserve Police Force workers in Chhattisgarh.

ntelligence officers said Naxals are buoyed by their success in decimate a CRPF team in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on 6 April, when 76 security guards were killed.

IB report says Naxals have zeroed in on Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district as their next target. The report also points out that most of the roads despite the fact that blacktop has been heavily mined by the Naxals and bombs can be triggered even after several months, depending on the target or apartment building.

Entrepreneurs have allegedly been forced to plant mines on the road that runs through areas dominated by Naxals.

With highways heavily mined, Naxals achieve twin goals. Central forces are restricted to their barracks and always on the unpleasant, and second, field dominance made Naxal-style IEDs planted on purpose. With losses mounting query is - is the center's strategy in dealing with Naxals really work?
