Muivah defers Manipur visit after PMO steps in

The NSCN-IM General Thiugaling Muivah has determined not to visit the place of birth of the Manipur Ukrul for now. He says he will wait until the center make sure their safety. The decision comes after Muivah met the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio.

"Since the PMO has asked us to wait for things to settle down, we can not ignore the request," senior NSCN-IM functionary Phungthing Shimrang said, adding Muivah was still strong-minded to head for Somdal in Ukhrul district at any price.

"It is up to the administration of India how quickly it can handle the current situation and create a pleasant situation for our General Secretary to visit the home village without hindrance," he told journalists.

"Now the ball is in the government court and we await the answer," Phungthing said.
