India granted access to Headley

Headley

India has gained right of entry to David Coleman Headley, Pakistani-American LET operative who has confess his role in Mumbai attacks, U.S. national security adviser James Jones said today.

"Yes, access (to Headley) is given. This is an ongoing process, and I have no detailed information that will be useful except to say that it is in the hands of the right professional from both countries," Jones told PTI on its White House office.

"We have fulfilled our duty," he said.

But Mr. Jones has details on when and how a team to visit India investigators had access to Headley which will be held in Chicago.

"We are very pleased that in this world of terrorist activities that our two countries can work together to ensure we share in order quickly, we exchange intelligence, we have when we take people, there is mutual interest we will try to arrange for people to be interviewed by all stakeholders to resolve problems in these networks, he says.

Asked whether that access to Headley is disposable affair, or whether the Indian analytical agencies to access multiple times, "says Jones," I do not know, but a spirit of cooperation and respect for each other's attitude is alive and well, and we have the first step we just have to wait and see if there are others want out of this. "

When asked what does this event symbolizes the U.S. national sanctuary adviser, said: "If I was a terrorist, it would tell me that looks like India and the United States work very closely together and that will make my job much more difficult to be a success and the is a good thing. "

Mr. Jones said: "What we need is a network of countries that can operate in the same way with speed, precision, transparency, because it is a country that will combat terrorism, and there will be many countries working together. "

His explanation follow the visiting External Affairs Minister SM Krishna's declaration that the investigations of this nature is very sensitive. The Minister did not clear whether the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers had interrogate Headley or not.

A team of NIA officers had arrived in Chicago early this week to examine Headley.

"Investigations of this nature is a very delicate and sensitive nature. We can not go on spelling daily updates. Right now time is not appropriate," Mr. Krishna said last night.

"There is overwhelming evidence that Headley is a plotter in 11.26. India will use all the force at his command, and will make the plea that we should have access to Headley, he said, but was quick to assert that New Delhi had supposed it would gain access to Headley.

"We have been assured that we will have access to Headley. How it will be considered and how it is organized within the legal framework is incredible that has been developed within the legal framework of the United States," Mr. Krishna said.
