Infosys founder's son weds TVS chief's daughter (Lead)

The scions of two of big Indian business groups, Infosys and TVS, got married Sunday at a function attended by high-profile businessmen and politicians.

Rohan Murthy, son of software major Infosys' founder N.R. Narayana Murthy, married Lakshmi Venu, daughter of industrialist couple Venu and Mallika Srinivasan.

Venu Srinivasan heads the country's second largest two-wheeler maker TVS Motor company and his wife Mallika Srinivasan heads the tractor major Tafe Ltd.

The guest list included former deputy prime minister L.K. Advani, union ministers G.K. Vasan, Anand Sharma and P. Chidambaram, Sashi Ruia of the Essar Group, head of Unique Identification Authority of India Nandhan Nilekani, former Air Deccan promoter G.R. Gopinath, Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej, Vikram Kirloskar of Kirloskar Group, among others.

As per the Tamil Brahmin practice, Lakshmi attired in a red silk saree, sat on her father's lap when Rohan, attired in 'dhoti' and 'kurta' and a Kannadiga turban, tied the 'malgalsutra' around her neck.

Lakshmi, 26, is on the board of TVS Motors headed by her father, while Rohan, 28, is doing his post-doctoral studies at Harvard University.

The food was vegetarian and the fare included best of Tamil and Kannadiga dishes.

The wedding was held at the J. Farm near here and a reception will be hosted in Bangalore by Narayana Murthy next week.
