3G Auction Ends, Govt To Get Rs 67,719 Cr Windfall
Nine companies - Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular, Tata Teleservices, Aircell, Etisalat, S Tel and Videocon Telecommunications - participated in the auction, which started 9 April.

It offers data, including the winning companies' names will be announced after the auction is completed and approval by the government, officials said.

The winning companies must make a deposit within 10 days from now. Providers will be offering 3G services on a commercial basis as from 1 September.

No single tenderer to bid on a pan-India license and Delhi arose most valuable class of Rs 3317 crore, followed by Mumbai at Rs 3,247 crore. Among the bidders, paid Rs 5,765 crore ideas for 11 circles, Bharti paid Rs 12,290 crore in 13 circles, Vodafone paid Rs 11,617 crore for the nine circles, RCom paid Rs 8,583 crore for 13 circles Aircell paid Rs 6,498 crore for 13 circles Tata Tele paid Rs 5,864 cr for eight circles and S Tel shelled out Rs 337 cr in three circles. Videocon and Etisalat had no 3G mobile networks in all circles.
