Mother arrested for suspected honour killing of journalist
Nirupama Pathak mother, Sudha, has been under arrest in Jharkhand in association with the 23-year-old murder.
Nirupama, who worked as a reporter in Delhi, was found dead at his home in Jharkhand last week. Police are investigating whether she was killed by her family for deficient to marry a colleague from another social group.
Nirupama was told that her mother was ill and was asked to return to Jharkhand to visit her. The family called police Thursday 29 April said she had found hanging in her bedroom. Autopsy on the 23-year-olds shows that she was assaulted and strangled, she died of suffocation.
On Monday told his father, NDTV that while he was in resistance to inter-caste marriage, his family played no role in the young journalist's death. He said he had no idea why the post-mortem for her daughter, she was murdered.
The man who Nirupama wanted to marry told NDTV that she had communal her fear of being expressively pressured by family to change her minds about being with him. But he said he was unaware that she was in no real danger at home.
The National charge for Women (NCW) has asked the case be heard by a fast-track path.
