Punjab to spend Rs 342 cr on healthcare facilities

In order to provide modern health amenities to the rural masses of Punjab Government would spend Rs 342 crore for the building of new hospitals and up-gradation of existing hospitals, group of people and primary health centers across the state.

This was in print by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while interact with media persons in Chandigarh. Badal said that a new 100-bed district hospital would be built Nawansahar and two of these hospitals will be up-graded from 1950 to 1960 beds in Mukatsar and Tarn Taran, in that order.

The four new sub-divisional hospitals would be built at Khadoor Sahib, Bholath, Moonak and GB and two of these hospitals will be up-graded at Dera Bassi and Budhladha. As many as 29 new group of people health centers (CHCs) had decided to be built in accordance with the system Dehlon, Baret, Lambi,, Sadiq Mahil Kalan, Makhu, Beenewal, Ghudha etc.

Chief Minister pointed out that out of Rs 342 crore, Rs. 75 crore would be deliberate from the state budget, RS 44 crore from the State authority develops, RS 83 crore from the Rural Development Fund, the RS 80 crore from the Punjab communications Development Board and RS 60 crore from the National Rural Health Mission.

He announces that all hospitals, PHCs and CHCs will be completed within one year. He said the Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation had been unavailable to design advice. Previously, he mentioned that there were seventeen 100-bed hospital to a norm of 20, fifty-six 50-bed sub-divisional hospital at 77, 93 30-bedded CHCs for one hundred and thirtieth State had far more PHCs against standards set by the Centre.

Referring to the staffing of physicians, Badal said that 376 doctors, including 214 specialists, 128 general physicians and 34 dentists, doctors will be recruited through a variety of PGI doctors. He said the recruitment of these 376 doctors to the gap at 566, while the residual 190 will be employed afterwards.
