Sonia book: It’s BJP telling Cong to respect free speech
The BJP Thursday highlighted the benefits of free speech for refusing and ruling Congress objected to a book on Sonia Gandhi Spanish writer Javier Moro.
The BJP does not comment on the contents of the book, said to be a fictional account of the Congress president's life, but wanted Congress to respect the right to freedom of expression and press freedom.
But while Congress and the advisor takes a high moral ground obscured the BJP that it was barely a year ago expelled a senior party leader Jaswant Singh for his book eulogizing Muhammad Ali Jinnah, often riled against MF Hussain in his paintings of Hindu gods and was infuriated more than one movie the post-Godhra riots.
BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad, but saw no parallel between his rejection of Singh and Congress objection to the Moro's novel The Red Sari. But he said that the content of Singh's book was not in harmony with the ideological beliefs of the party.
In his book Jinnah: India, Partition and Independence, Singh had met Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel responsible for the partition of India, and argued that Jinnah has been "demonized" in India.
