Keep PM Under Lokpal, Judiciary Out: BJP

Uma Bharti returned to BJP after 6 years of split today on June 7, 2011. Uma Bharti, who was thrown out from BJP in 2005 for indisciple has been returned to BJP after 6 years of split on Tuesday. BJP president Nitin Gadkari invited Uma Bharti back into the party as he made the announcement at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

Party president Nitin Gadkari at a press conference declared that she will be asked to help revive the BJP in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the state’s elections next year. Ms Uma Bharti, who was also served as a union minister in the NDA government, was upset about being removed as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and made repeated attempts to challenge the authority of Shivraj Singh Chouhan who was appointed to head the state government at the end of 2005.

In a damage-control exercise, ruling BJP in Karnataka on Friday appealed to Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde to withdraw his resignation but he refused to budge.
A senior BJP delegation led by state party president K S Eshwarappa, Home Minister V S Acharya and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar met Hegde and pressed him to reconsider his decision.
