TMC leads in Kolkata, close race in Bengal
Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress to take a big lead in Kolkata municipal managers in 71 departments out of one hundred and forty-Left Front is far behind the leader in only 41 divisions, while the Congress is leading in three seats, while the other smaller parties ahead in two.
But the overall picture is not so rosy for the TMC. A party is leading in just
12 municipalities, while the Left Front is ahead in 1914 with congressional leaders in six.
A total of 81 civilian bodies have gone to elections across the state with the Left Front government controls 54 civilian bodies. Counting of votes began Wednesday morning.
Trinamool Congress fights without Congress' support, in contrast to the 2009 General Election when the alliance swept the state.
