Vuitton’s luxury globetrotter heads east

You might not be a Sagittarius (or Libra, Virgo, etc) after all! – When the Zodiac chart was first made 2200 years ago, the Earth’s sky looked a little different.

In the past, zodiac signs were originally determined by the constellation the Sun happened to be “in” on the date of one’s birth. Early astronomers watched as the Sun traveled through each of the Zodiacs, and it spent about 30 days “in” each Zodiac constellation.
However, the Earth goes through little wobbles on its access because of the Moon’s gravitational pull. This is called precession. Over the last 2000 years, precession has caused the zodiac signs, as they appear in the sky, to slip to the west about 1/10 the distance they once were.

What this means is that people who think they’re Libras are actually Virgos. And, now there’s a new sign that you’ve probably never seen before – Ophiuchus! Ophiuchus is the snake-handling son of Apollo in Greek mythology. Ophiuchus is associated with doctors and healing.
