iPhone 3G: Updated with Android 2.2 Froyo

We have some interesting news for those of you still in possession of an iPhone 3G handset, as one website has claimed that they have successfully ported Android 2.2 Froyo to the handset.

As reported from Phandroid, the website responsible for this is iPhodroid and was performed using the Ultrasn0w unlock method with OpeniBoot.

At the moment, the website has not provided any detailed information on how they did it, or released a tutorial guide for others to follow. Instead they have just posted an image of Froyo running on the iPhone 3G, so we’ll let you draw your own conclusions to that.

If the port does work smoothly, you have to say that it is a kick in the teeth for Android users still stuck on 2.1 Eclair. Check out the image below and let us know your thoughts on this.
