'SYTYCD' Top 9 Live Results: Who Gets Eliminated?

'SYTYCD' Top 9 Live Results: Who Gets Eliminated?
Everybody knows that Melinda Sullivan deserves to go home on So You Think You Can Dance. The fans at BuddyTV unanimously agreed that she should go. Nigel Lythgoe wanted her gone last week. Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman apologized for not eliminating her already. But is that enough?
If the judges eliminate yet another girl, we'll be down to 75 percent guys. Those odds might be good for a woman at a singles mixer, but it presents a very lop-sided SYTYCD.
Big Changes: Next week the dancers will have two dances each, one with an All-Star they've never danced with before and one with one of their fellow competitors. I'm excited because it means we're guaranteed at least one boy-boy dance that can hopefully be as great as Alex and Twitch's from this week.

Ashley Galvan is...SAFE
Adechike Torbert is...SAFE
Kent Boyd is...SAFE

Cat Deeley reveals that last night she went home and watched Alex's routine three times in a row. I wish they'd just re-air the complete dance for the whole results show.

Also, I'm a bit in awe that Adechike has avoided the Bottom 3 every week. I don't find him particularly special, especially when compared to some of the other guys this season, but I guess I'm wrong. However, I'll admit that he did have the best solo last night, and a solo is what saved him in Vegas Week when he had to dance for his life, so my problem isn't him, it's his partner work.

Lauren Froderman is...SAFE
Billy Bell is...IN THE BOTTOM 3
Robert Roldan is...IN THE BOTTOM 3

WTF? How in God's name is Billy freaking Bell in the Bottom 3? And how is Robert in the Bottom 3 as well? There's no way the judges would dare eliminate either of these two.

All-Star Flashbacks: To fill time in the results shows, we're looking back at the All-Stars. First up are Courtney Galiano and Mark Kanamura We get a remake of their Sonya Tayeh routine, "The Garden." This is a bad idea because it only reminds us why the changes are such a bad idea: the All-Stars dramatically overshadow the current crop of contestants, for the most part.

The Bottom 3's Solos

Billy: He bends his body like a weeping willow and looks amazing the whole time.

Robert: He takes on a robotic solo that feels choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. The only problem might be that robots don't have a lot of emotion.

Melinda: She taps without music and her idea of connecting with the audience is to plaster an uncomfortable smile on her face. There's no doubt she SHOULD go home.

The Final Results

Nigel Lythgoe admits that it's unanimous. He quickly tells Billy and Robert that they're safe. Wow, six guys, two girls, this is a very one-sided season, but there's no doubt that this was the right choice.

MELINDA SULLIVAN IS ELIMINATED!

OK, from now on, Ashley and Lauren have to be safe for the next two or three weeks while SYTYCD tries to balance things out.
