If you’re a country or bluegrass fan, you can catch some big names tonight by doing a little channel surfing among the fireworks shows on TV.
On the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (9 p.m., CBS), Martina McBride is the featured performer and will sing some of her biggest hits. She’s stepping in as a last-minute replacement for Lionel Richie, who had to cancel his appearance because of strained vocal chords. The program will be hosted by actor Michael Chiklis.
“One of my most favorite things in the world is to perform with a live orchestra, and to sing with the prestigious Boston Pops on Independence Day in front of thousands of people and on national television is not only an amazing opportunity but a career highlight for me,” McBride said on CBS’ website.
Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular (8 p.m., NBC) will feature Brad Paisley, along with Beyonce. Nick Lachey is the host.
And on A Capitol Fourth (7 p.m., PBS), bluegrass stars Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers join the celebration led by Jimmy Smits. Other performers include Josh Groban, Jordin Sparks, Little Richard and Matthew Morrison.
