BP Plc rose for a second day as drilling for the relief well that will kill off the Gulf of Mexico oil spill nears completion.

The Nikkei and Hang Seng were both in positive territory, while the FTSE 100 Index lifted 71 points to 4894.5, a gain of around 1.5%.

James Cameron joins oil slick task force

Movie maker James Cameron has worked to resolve problems, seeking a way to stop the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The "Avatar" and "Titanic" director, deep sea diving pioneer, has reportedly joined the Think Tank meetings held in an attempt to close the gap in exploded Deepwater Horizon Rich.

The paper, with representatives Henry Waxman and Bart Stupak, who was briefed by BP on the development of its internal investigation, also said problems were found in equipment designed to provide reliable protection against a blow out.
