New Delhi: A strong performance in the ongoing series against the West Indies will help World Champions India close the gap with Australia who currently are in the top-spot on the International Cricket Council's rankings in the limited overs format.
India is already the ranked the number one Test team with a rating of 128, ahead of South Africa (117) and England (115) with Australia (107) in the fifth position. According to it, Australia have a rating of 129 while India has 121 with Sri Lanka (118) rounding the top-three.
The manner in which the visitors played their first and only T20 at the Port of Spain, defeating Darren Sammy's side by 16 runs, many have already begun predicting that India will overtake Australia by the end of the Caribbean tour.
