PM Mourns Loss Of lives In Kalka Mail Derailment

Kalka Mail TrainPrime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives in Uttar Pradesh railway accidents,and led the Ministry of Railways to use all available means of rescue and relief efforts in the region.

Singh also told the Minister of State for Railways about the incident.

"The prime minister has expressed shock and grief at the loss of lives caused by the accident Malwa station Kalk Mail, the PMO statement.

It says he has spoken with the Chairman and Vice Minister of Railways, Railway Board and advised that all available resources are placed in rescue and relief efforts.

A statement said the Ministry of Railways has announced ex-gratia relief to the relatives of those killed and injured in these accidents.

Canadian PM to host Manmohan after G 20 summit


In an acknowledgement of India’s rising importance, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced on Friday he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the end of the G-20 summit here June 27.

Dr. Singh, who is the first Indian prime minister to visit Canada in more than a decade, will be the only foreign head of government Harper will host after the summit. Harper, who visited India last November, will also host a dinner in honour of Manmohan Singh and his delegation.

Narendra Modi to PM: Withdrawal new panel on Narmada project

In a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Chief Minister Narendra Modi has asked him to lead the Ministry of Environment and Forest to extract his request for the formation of a group to assess the ecological measures under the Sardar Sarovar Project.

The CM said that the result letter from the Ministry is not in agreement with existing necessities of the Narmada Yojana and the highest Court order dated 20 October 2000. Modi handed over the letter to the prime minister late Monday night.
