Mining companies in Australia have expressed hope of reopening discussions about a controversial mining tax with the country's new prime minister.

Julia Gillard, who has been sworn in as Australia's first female premier, said she was "throwing open the government's door to the mining industry".

Turkey in bid to rally support for Iran nuclear deal

Turkey's Prime Minister seeks global support for an agreement in which Iran would send much of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan office said he told U.S. President Barack Obama in a correspondence that the agreement "has opened the door for a political solution." Erdogan office said the letter also gave information about the uranium deal.

Ramesh May Quit Over China Remarks Row

Ramesh may quit over China remarks row
Comments on the Ministry of the Interior in his recent visit to China is too expensive, Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Ministry Jairam Ramesh.

Sources told CNN-IBN that the Minister for the Environment has proposed to withdraw from the government in his speech in China.


Ramesh is said to have bid the difference between the Prime Minister (PM) Manmohan Singh on Monday.

However, the particle and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairman Sonia Gandhi has yet to rule on the matter.
